Use presets and custom appearance overrides

Choose the right level

Appearance can come from the template, a preset or a custom setting. Start with the specific section, heading or item you want to change.

Reuse a style

1. Open the appearance controls and inspect the current preset or inherited style.
2. Choose a suitable preset or use the custom controls for an individual override.
3. In Presets, duplicate a template preset when you need an editable version, or choose Add Custom Preset. Give it a meaningful name and appropriate structural type.

When a change has no effect

Check whether the visible element has its own override instead of inheriting the value you edited. Review both Section and Header settings. Use the available inheritance controls or Undo to return to the earlier appearance.

Change one section without restyling the whole CV

1. Select the section and open Section Appearance settings.
2. Choose Section for the whole block or Header for its heading.
3. Find the setting you need and choose Custom Override when it currently inherits a value.
4. Change one value and inspect the preview. Check another section to confirm the change has the intended scope.

Changing a shared palette colour can still affect other elements using that colour. An appearance override chooses how this element uses a colour; it does not make the palette itself private to the section.
