Start with the overall appearance
Open the editor's theme and appearance controls to adjust the document's look. Choose a template or theme as a starting point, then change the settings that matter to you. Review the full document after a global change.
Change one area
Select a section and open its appearance settings for a local adjustment. The Section and Header tabs control different parts of the section. Spacing & Background controls the section box; text settings control typography where available.
Understand inherited styles
A setting can come from a template or preset instead of being set directly on an element. A custom setting overrides that inherited value. If changing a template setting does not affect one element, check whether that element has a custom override.
Use palette colours carefully
Several parts of the document can share a palette colour. Changing the colour itself may update every part that uses it. To style just one section, start from that section's appearance controls.
Keep the result readable
Use enough contrast between text and backgrounds. Avoid shrinking fonts just to force everything onto one page. Shorter wording and smaller gaps can improve the layout without making the document hard to read.
