Follow the conversation

Open a comment thread to reply. Use Open, Resolved and All to find the threads you need. A location comment points to part of the document; a general comment concerns the document as a whole.

Resolve or reopen

Resolve a thread when feedback has been addressed, or Reopen it for further discussion. A comment on its own never changes the document; only a suggested edit that the owner accepts does. Read the confirmation before deleting a thread because replies may be deleted with it.

Suggested edits

A coach or workspace manager can suggest new wording for one line instead of only describing the change. The comment then shows the current line struck through and the suggested text under it. The document owner decides:

  • Accept replaces the line with the suggested text. It is available to the owner in the editor, not while a coach is working in the document for them.
  • Edit first opens that line in the editor so you can make the change in your own words.
  • Dismiss leaves the document as it is. The suggestion stays in the thread, marked Dismissed and not applied.

If the line has changed since the suggestion was made, Accept is not available; make the edit by hand instead.

Request a review

If you work with a coach, choose Request review from the ⋮ menu in the editor or from the document in your list to send the current version to your coach, with an optional note. Your coach answers with a verdict: Approve, or Request changes with a note that appears at the top of the comments and in an email to you. After making the changes, request a review again.

Who sees what

  • As the owner, you see every comment on your document.
  • People who open your share link see your comments and those left through the link. They never see notes from your coach or workspace team.
  • Your coach and workspace team see your comments and their own team's notes. They do not see comments left through your share link.
