Interview prep

Interview preparation, from the job ad to the offer

Read the job ad, check it against your CV, research the company, prepare and rehearse your answers, then follow up. One place for every application, next to the CV you sent.

Start preparing — it's free

Six steps, one board

  1. Step 1

    Read the job ad

Paste the link, or the ad itself when a site blocks reading. WhizCV pulls out what they must have, what is nice to have, what to watch for, the salary, where the job is and how senior it is, and puts the job on your job search board. The ad as posted stays one click away.

  2. Step 2

    Check the fit

See what the ad asks for that your CV already shows, what it doesn’t mention yet, and what is worth changing. Then tailor a copy of your CV or cover letter for that one role with the Copilot, keeping or skipping each change it proposes.

  3. Step 3

    Research the company

One click reads the company’s own site: what they do, how big they are and what is new, with the source next to every fact. You also get a first, 45-second draft of your answer to “What do you know about us?”. Check every fact before you say it.

  4. Step 4

    Prepare your answers

Start from the questions almost every interview asks, add the ones WhizCV suggests from the job ad, and write your own. Shape each answer your way: situation, task, action and result, a few sentences, or a quick outline. Link the follow-ups they might ask, pick the questions you’ll ask them, and keep it all in one notebook that carries over to the next interview.

  5. Step 5

    Rehearse out loud

Say each answer with the full script on screen, then only cue words, then nothing. WhizCV listens on your device for your pace and the cue words you missed, and your voice never leaves it. Before the day, practise that interview’s questions in order, and turn on Score me to hear what each answer does well, where it is weak, and what they might follow up with.

  6. Step 6

    After the interview

Note how it went and what they asked while it is fresh, and new questions go straight into your notebook. Draft the thank-you note or a follow-up to copy and send yourself. When an offer comes, check it against the ad and what they told you in the interviews, and see what is worth asking before you say yes.

Questions about interview prep

Is WhizCV’s interview prep free?

Yes. The job search board, your answers, rehearsing and practice are on the free plan. Reading the job ad, the fit check, company research, suggestions from the ad and feedback on your answers use your monthly AI allowance, which is larger on WhizCV Pro.

Does WhizCV record me?

No. Speech is recognised on your device and never sent. “Hear it back” keeps a recording in your browser only until you leave the page. With Score me on, the text of that one answer goes out for feedback and is not stored.

Which browsers can listen to me?

Listening needs a browser that can recognise speech on your device, such as a recent version of Chrome. In other browsers the timer still runs and everything else works.

Where do the questions come from?

Start from the questions almost every interview asks, add the ones WhizCV suggests from the job ad, write your own, or keep the ones they actually asked you. For the questions you ask them, start from a ready-made list.

Can I prepare for several jobs at once?

Yes. Every application has its own page, job ad, fit check and interview prep, and a job search groups them together. Your answers carry over from one interview to the next.

Does WhizCV email employers for me?

No. Follow-ups and thank-you notes are drafts you copy. Nothing is sent from WhizCV.
